DuBois collected <a href=\"http:\/\/www.loc.gov\/pictures\/collection\/anedub\/dubois.html\">these photos <\/a>of black life in Georgia for the 1900 Paris Exposition &#8211; he intended that the visitor would find\u00a0&#8220;several volumes of photographs of typical Negro faces, which hardly square with conventional American ideas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Below, a selection sorted by major
