{"id":4689,"date":"2012-10-14T02:35:05","date_gmt":"2012-10-14T02:35:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogsdev.dickinson.edu\/ideafund\/?p=365"},"modified":"2015-05-14T18:46:16","modified_gmt":"2015-05-14T22:46:16","slug":"funded-energy-efficient-lighting-in-theater","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/ideafund\/2012\/10\/14\/funded-energy-efficient-lighting-in-theater\/","title":{"rendered":"FUNDED: Energy Efficient Lighting in Mathers Theater"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4><em>IF funded the first project of the year!<\/em><\/h4>\n<h5>By Anna Leistikow<\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><strong>Congratulations to Hillary Rosen &#8217;13 and the Theater Department<\/strong>\u00a0for their successful research, collaboration, and hard work on\u00a0&#8220;<strong>Energy Efficient Lighting in Theatre<\/strong>&#8220;.\u00a0The IF has approved a loan of $2,000 to the Theater Department, and in collaboration with the Facilities Department, to purchase a MAC Aura LED lamp, 75% more energy efficient than the current lamps but with better quality performance. The project will have a payback period of 3.32 years. Facilities has agreed to pay the Idea Fund an extra year in returns for money to fund future IF projects. The business plan is below.<\/span><\/h5>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/ideafund\/files\/2012\/10\/121010_0006.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"121010_0006\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/ideafund\/files\/2012\/10\/121010_0006-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><span style=\"color: #888888;\">The Board has funded this project because of the\u00a0<strong>evident\u00a0hard work,\u00a0passion,\u00a0extensive research, the\u00a0quality- \u00a0composed<\/strong>\u00a0written business plan, its thorough\u00a0<strong>forward \u00a0thinking and focus on longevity and management<\/strong>, the \u00a0balanced approach\u00a0of quality art and performance linking with \u00a0sustainability, Hillary&#8217;s initiatives to\u00a0<strong>reach out to students who \u00a0aren&#8217;t usually involved<\/strong>\u00a0in Theater, the great presentation and \u00a0plan for follow up. This research and collaboration sets the stage \u00a0for not only other future student-departmental collaborations \u00a0through Idea Fund, but also serves as an excellent model for other \u00a0Theater Departments across the United States. The Department will continue working with the Center for Sustainability Education to follow up on this momentous project to set an example for other universities.
