Lalo Alcaraz is the creator of the first nationally syndicated, politically themed Latino daily comic strip, \u201cLa Cucaracha,\u201d which is read in American newspapers nationwide, including the <\/span>Los Angeles Times<\/i><\/span>. Lalo\u2019s comics are syndicated by Universal Uclick, home of \u201cDoonesbury\u201d and \u201cThe Boondocks.\u201d Lalo produced editorial  cartoons for <\/span>The <\/i><\/span>LA Weekly<\/i><\/span> from 1992-2010 and now creates  editorial cartoons in English and Spanish for Universal. Lalo\u2019s books include <\/span>Latino USA: A Cartoon History<\/i><\/span> (2000 by Basic Books), and <\/span>Migra Mouse: Political Cartoons On Immigration<\/i><\/span>,(2004). Alcaraz also authored the first collection of his daily comic strips, \u201cLa Cucaracha.\u201d (2004, Andrews-McMeel Publishing.) His upcoming book is <\/span>Imperfect Union: A Contrarian History of the United <\/i><\/span>States<\/i><\/span> (2014 by Basic Books). Lalo taught editorial illustration at Otis College of Art & Design in Los Angeles in 2013. <\/span>Alcaraz was a writer and producer of \u201cBordertown,\u201d the animated TV show on FOX, which<\/span><\/div>\n
ran for one triumphant 13 episode season before being canceled. Lalo is also consultant on the upcoming 2017 Pixar film, <\/span>COCO<\/i><\/span>. Alcaraz was a segment producer on Al Madrigal\u2019s (Daily Show) \u201cHalf Like Me\u201d comedy special for Fusion\/ABC. Lalo is also featured on the upcoming HBO Latino program \u201cHabla y Vota\u201d special along with George Lopez and Jorge Ramos.<\/span><\/div>\n
Lalo Alcaraz has received five Southern California Journalism Awards for Best Cartoon in  Weekly Papers, and numerous other awards and honors.<\/span><\/div>\n
