Choosing a Recording Format<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the front of the recorder, locate the <strong>Audio <\/strong>button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Determine your format and quality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click to <strong>MP3<\/strong> for smaller file size or <strong>48k 16 bit<\/strong> <strong>for a wav<\/strong> file <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>While WAV is recommended for editing projects, MP3 can be read by nearly any program making it easier to work with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Positioning the Built-In Microphones<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The H1n has fixed X\/Y stereo microphones on top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Point the microphones <strong>toward<\/strong> your sound source<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Place the recorder on a table or tripod when possible<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid touching the recorder during recording<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Keep it about <strong>6\u201324 inches<\/strong> from the source<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Setting Input Levels <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To manually set the input level:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Press the Auto Level button on the front of the device once to turn it off <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Spin the numbered wheel on the front of the device while watching the meters on the screen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjust the dial so peaks reach <strong>between \u201312 dB and \u20136 dB<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">5. Recording Audio <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Press Record<\/strong> to start recording<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The timer will begin counting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Remain still during recording<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you need to pause the recording, hit the play\/pause button once and hit the same button again to restart<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Press Stop<\/strong> when finished to stop recording<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">6. Playing Back Your Recording<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Press the <strong>Play<\/strong> button<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the <strong>forward\/back buttons<\/strong> to select files<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjust volume using the side buttons<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Listen through the speaker or headphones<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">7. Using an External Microphone (Optional)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Plug a microphone into the <strong>mic\/line in <\/strong>on the right side of the device<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Adjust the levels using the dial on the front <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitor audio with headphones if available<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">8.
