Fearing the potential of Saddam Hussein to be in possession of weapons of mass destruction, President Bush announced the beginning of the Iraq War in 2003. With the backing of a multi-nation coalition, the United State’s objectives were limited: disarm and remove Saddam Hussein from power in Iraq. The United States forces quickly accomplished the initial objectives, but internal issues in Iraq emerged, following Saddam’s ousting from power. The numerous issues that arose led to a prolonged United States military presence in Iraq, which led to American citizens becoming dissatisfied with the war.<\/p>\n
