p<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">articularly when one considers that the accepted minimum\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">annual water footprint per individual is 1,100 m^3<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Although these four countries share primary water sources (Tigris\/Euphrates), dams have created restricted water flow to certain areas of the countries above, which has caused social,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">economic, and political disruptions.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0As a result of restricted water flow due to dams, the water in \u201clow flow\u201d areas has become contaminated, which has necessitated\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">further\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">government intervention which\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">seeks to provide water<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0through alternative means<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
