Musician Psoy Korolenko, who was a visiting scholar at Dickinson in 2011 and again in 2017, was recently nominated for a Grammy award for his albumYiddish Glory: The Lost Songs of WWII. Known as a “wandering scholar” or “singing professor,” Korolenko creates a unique multilingual cabaret, combining traditions of Russian and European (especially French) popular and urban folk song, Yiddish folk and theater song, and elements of rap, sound poetry, and other kinds of free-style poetry.
