Happy Birthday, Moscow!

Story by Clara Giorgis 21 (Russian and International Studies), who is currently studying abroad on the Dickinson-in-Moscow program.

This past weekend, Moscow celebrated its 872nd birthday in a grand fashion.  There were live performances, games, and other activities spread throughout different parks and public spaces, which made the whole city feel like one enormous festival.  We met up with Russian students who helped guide us throughout the festivities as we spoke in both Russian and English.  While walking in Gorky Park along the Moscow River, we even ran into Professor Duzs who was able to snap a quick picture of our whole group.  Celebrating Moscow’s Birthday with our new friends was a wonderful way learn more about the city and Russian culture.
