On Tuesday, November 17, 2020 the Russian Department at Dickinson held its second career event of the semester. Faculty and students welcomed two alumni members back to campus:
Lucas Stratton: Instructor of Russian and French, Department Coordinator for Middle School World Languages, Friends School of Baltimore
Jack Seitz: Assistant Professor of History, Tennessee Wesleyan University
Contributing to the conversation was the parent of a current RUSS 101 student:
Matt London: Deputy Managing Director, Amsted Rail Russia/CIS and Director, Government Affairs, Amsted Rail International
Career events offer current students the opportunity to network with alums and to learn about the wide variety of careers that Russian majors and minors pursue after graduation. Takeaways from the event were that (1) study abroad in Russia is critical for building linguistic and cultural competency; and that (2) students should take advantage of all the opportunities available to them at Dickinson during their four years.
