Since 2018, the Russian Department has been the host department for Dickinson’s “Languages and Cultures Teaching Internship,” where students conduct an independent project on teaching language and culture at the Dickinson College Children’s Center. Students choose any language of their specialization, and past interns have chosen to teach Spanish, Chinese, French, and cultures of the Americas. This spring 2022, senior Spanish major and entrepreneur Leslie Alas carried out her project, “Spanish for Children,” where she spent 12 weeks teaching Spanish language and Spanish-speaking cultures to the DCCC Kindergarten class.
