{"id":2067,"date":"2019-12-12T13:55:39","date_gmt":"2019-12-12T18:55:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/russian\/?p=2067"},"modified":"2020-01-22T13:31:49","modified_gmt":"2020-01-22T18:31:49","slug":"dickinson-in-armenia-by-clara-giorgis-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/russian\/2019\/12\/12\/dickinson-in-armenia-by-clara-giorgis-21\/","title":{"rendered":"Dickinson in Armenia By Clara Giorgis &#8217;21"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_xxmsonormal\">This year, the Dickinson in Moscow program spent an amazing Thanksgiving weekend in Armenia.\u00a0 Although we were staying in the capital city of Yerevan, we spent time exploring the whole country, including a visit to Geghard Cave Monastery, the ancient temple at Garni, and the beautiful lake Sevan.\u00a0 Although rain and fog sometimes obscured our view of the mountains, the monasteries and churches of the first country to officially adopt Christianity were still breathtaking.\u00a0 We also took time to visit the memorial museum of the Armenian Genocide, where we learned about the tragedies Armenia faced in the 20<sup>th<\/sup><span class=\"x_apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>century.
