This date might not ring any bells for you right now, and &#8211; let&#8217;s be honest &#8211; it sounds pretty far away. <\/span><\/h3>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center\">April 15th is the standard filing deadline* for US federal tax returns. If you make money in 2017\u00a0and<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">Want to file a return to potentially receive a tax refund from the federal government, or<\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: left\">You made enough money that you are required to file &#8211;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center\"><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">you&#8217;ll need to keep April 15th in mind.<\/span><\/h5>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-71 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/save\/files\/2017\/09\/VITA-logo-300x104.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"383\" height=\"133\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/save\/files\/2017\/09\/VITA-logo-300x104.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/save\/files\/2017\/09\/VITA-logo.png 538w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 383px) 100vw, 383px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lots of students have confusion over federal tax filing, and with good reason &#8211; tax law can seem like a total mystery if you don&#8217;t deal with it regularly! We always recommend students get involved with Dickinson&#8217;s VITA connection.<\/p>\n<h5><span style=\"color: #3366ff\">VITA stands for the <strong>Volunteer Income Tax Assistance<\/strong> program. It is approved by the IRS and supported locally through the United Way. There are two ways you can participate:<\/span><\/h5>\n<ol>\n<li>Take advantage of the opportunity to have your US federal taxes** filed for FREE, on campus! The VITA office is open on Monday evenings from late January through the end of February. You&#8217;ll need to sign up for an appointment, so watch for more information closer to tax filing time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Why not volunteer?!<\/strong> This is a great opportunity to learn a valuable life skill, while giving back to our campus and the Carlisle community.
