On Saturday, August 6, 2014, Asst. Prof. Spanish Angela DeLutis-Eichenberger traveled with her First Year Seminar students to Scranton, PA, where they toured a coal mine dating from the 19th century. Within the depths of the mine, chilled to the bone and aided only by the fragments of light cast from vintage lamps, they read aloud the Chilean mining short story “The Devil’s Pit” (included in Sub terra, 1904) by Baldomero Lillo.
