On Thursday, April 13, twelve new members were inducted into Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society (La Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispánica). Dickinson’s chapter began in 1962 and since then many Dickinsonians have joined SDP. As part of the induction ceremony, each inductee received a red candle that they lit and later blew out. Both actions carried symbolic meaning. Additionally, the inductees were awarded a certificate and a pin bearing the royal seal of Fernando and Isabel. The inductees then signed the official register, and received the Society’s flower, a red carnation.
