We were the first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dickinsonathletics.com\/general\/2020-21\/releases\/20210630dl7pwm\">Dickinson swim team<\/a> in years to win that meet. I\u2019m also still extremely close with members of Raven&#8217;s Claw, and I am very grateful for that organization.<\/p>\n<p><em>Eliza:<\/em>\u00a0Being president of Pi Beta Phi and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dickinson.edu\/homepage\/577\/education_abroad\">studying abroad<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dickinson.edu\/homepage\/1420\/dickinson_in_spain\">M\u00e1laga<\/a> are memories that I\u2019ll never forget.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How has Dickinson\u2019s useful liberal-arts education helped you?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The emotional intelligence that comes with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dickinson.edu\/homepage\/254\/liberal_arts\">liberal-arts<\/a> background allows us both to better connect with our stakeholders, whether that\u2019s students and their parents or business clients.<\/p>\n<p><em>Andrew:<\/em> In my career, I am\u00a0very focused on solving complex problems for our clients. The solutions\u00a0aren\u2019t always cut and dried.\u00a0Having the strength of a liberal-arts education allows me to think in new and creative ways to find the most useful solution, one that\u00a0fits the\u00a0ever-changing\u00a0needs of our stakeholders.<\/p>\n<p><em>Eliza:<\/em> I feel like I have a very well-rounded education across all subjects, and I\u00a0can speak to a wide\u00a0range of disciplines.\u202f As a teacher, that&#8217;s very\u00a0helpful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What inspired your gift to Dickinson?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Both of us have benefited from our time at Dickinson, and it\u00a0wouldn\u2019t have been possible without <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dickinson.edu\/homepage\/1047\/alumni_homepage\">alumni<\/a>\u00a0support\u00a0through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dickinson.edu\/info\/20264\/give\/1972\/mcandrews_fund_for_athletics\">McAndrews Fund<\/a> and annual giving. We want to help ensure that the next generation of Dickinsonians has the same opportunities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What advice would you give to today\u2019s students?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Take advantage of every opportunity you have on campus. Your time at Dickinson is very impactful, and it has a lasting effect as you move through life after graduation. Don\u2019t underestimate the power of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dickinson.edu\/info\/20211\/career_center\/606\/networking\">networking <\/a>with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dickinson.edu\/homepage\/1047\/alumni_homepage\">alumni<\/a>.
