This date is\u00a0significant to many important world authors; it\u00a0is also the date that Miguel de Cervantes died.\u00a0In many Spanish-speaking countries, readers\u00a0participate in a two-day \u201creadathon,\u201d an event\u00a0that features a continuous reading of Cervantes\u2019s\u00a0masterpiece Don Quixote.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>April 22<\/strong>, events for D\u00eda del Libro will begin.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule of the Day:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>3:30 p.m.<\/strong>: Opening Remarks (Stern Great Room)<\/p>\n<p><strong>3:45-4:30 p.m.<\/strong>: 2 One-Act Plays from Cervantes<\/p>\n<p><strong>4:30-5 p.m.<\/strong>: Light Refreshments<\/p>\n<p><strong>5-6 p.m.<\/strong>: Round Table Discussion (Stern 102)<\/p>\n<p><strong>7 p.m.<\/strong>: Viewing of film, Don Quixote (Bosler 208) (Russian version with Subtitles)<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>April 23<\/strong>, students and faculty will read aloud from <em>Don Quixote<\/em> continuously from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Spanish, excerpts were read in several other languages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule of the Day: <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>8 a.m.-3 p.m.<\/strong>: Continuous Readings (and Skype) (Bosler Atrium)<\/p>\n<p><strong>3-5 p.m.<\/strong>: Continuous Readings (Stafford Reading Room, Waidner-Spahr Library)<\/p>\n<p><strong>5 p.m.<\/strong>: Continuous Readings and Reception (Social Hall)<\/p>\n<p><strong>8 p.m.<\/strong>: Readings Conclude<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In 1995, UNESCO designated April 23 as World\u00a0Book Day to honor books and authors and\u00a0to encourage everyone to read.
