Dickinson student Daniel Pinz\u00f3n, with resources from the Department of Theater and Dance, led classes teaching Bachata dancing to Spanish students, who performed the dance they learned at the Spanish Club Dinner this year.\u00a0 This performance was only one of many throughout the night.<\/p>\n

Bachata is a style of dance that originated in the Dominican Republic and is now danced all over the world.\u00a0 It is an eight-beat dance like the salsa.\u00a0 The basics are three steps with a Cuban hip motion followed by a tap which can include a hip movement.\u00a0 The knees are slightly bent to allow for better hip motion.\u00a0 Most of the dancer’s movement is generally in the lower body.<\/p>\n
