We left behind the borders of the Vitebsk province and came to Liflyandia. I walked with the vanguard. All the young soldiers, cornets, and warrant officers were with me \u201cfor training.\u201d We made a stop at the folwark of Marin-Zee. The Sisters of Mercy did a wonderful job hosting the Hussars and officers. There are lots of strawberries, and bilberries and wild strawberries in the woods, and we are collecting them. The people here are somewhat wealthy, and the Latvians live on farmsteads. We marched out at 11 o\u2019clock, and by 10 o\u2019clock in the evening we were here.
