Today we started off in an automobile, then we arrived on foot to old volcanic crater, which was erupting lava just four years ago. It\u2019s a very beautiful place. On the 8th of October, 1822, there was a very terrible eruption when over 4000 people perished; then in 1842; and finally in 1917 this is where the \u201ccrab\u201d appeared: a hill of lava rose up from the middle of the lake, which is still smoking to this day. At the foot of the volcano there are many hot springs, and the natives come here for treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Today we walked on the bottom of the huge half-opened crater. The western wall of the crater is 500 m. high and is awfully steep, but it\u2019s already overgrown. There is a very beautiful waterfall here, and a mountain river. I swam in the lake. By evening it began to rain. I\u2019m trying not to get wet, since my tent is only made of one layer. The next day I looked for the place where there were hot springs in the channels of mountain streams.
