I hardly slept at all during the night. It turned out that the division headquarters was not located in Stryk\u00f3w, but was three versts away. Earlier I&#8217;d heard stories about the 6th Siberian Rifle division, about how the headquarters of the division had unexpectedly left in the night and the mounted patrols were taken prisoner, so I dispatched a guard to watch over the headquarters and to report to me immediately in case it started to leave. <\/p>\n<p>At around 1 am the headquarters began to prepare to set out. I woke up the hussars and joined the back of the convoy. In one of the villages, after traveling about three versts, I stopped for the night with the 6th Don Leib-Guard Battery. <\/p>\n<p>In the morning I got up and saw my regiment marching in the street, so I immediately joined them. Thank God I found them. I heard rumors that \u0141owicz had been captured by the Germans, but in fact it wasn\u2019t the case. Everybody was happy to hear that.
