After the cold winds it feels like spring. In the hospital I was offered to undergo a weeklong course of treatment, but I actually feel well today. It means I should go back to the regiment. It is really tempting to stay. I could summon my wife, from whom I had just received a letter and a telegram, but I have always been so ashamed of my illness and definitely won&#8217;t stay here, now that I am feeling well. I went shopping and walked around the city. <\/p>\n<p>The women of Warsaw are very graceful \u2013 from ladies to simple servant women. It took some effort to replenish my supply of cognac, which I had always offered to the wounded on the battlefield. In the tobacco shop I got a bottle with one star for ten rubles.<\/p>\n<p>In Warsaw there are many cleanly dressed officers. I felt uneasy in my dirty uniform overcoat that I sewed and patched myself, but soon I overcame this false feeling of shame.
