class=\"su-column-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim\">\n<p>When I\u2019m not sleeping, I spend all my time in the trenches, inspecting the platoon and watching the Germans. The Hussars have been forbidden to shoot, but I\u2019ve already shot many Germans. Yesterday passed quietly, the Germans were as quiet as mice. But it was we who reacted disgracefully, when our 8-inch howitzer battery opened fire as a cover for our leftern advance.<\/p>\n<p>Our squadron\u2019s trenches are located at the mouth of the Bzura. The main German front is deep in the woods. Their patrol trenches are connected by communication trenches. That&#8217;s where I catch the Germans. Interestingly, from here the shots from our battery are entirely inaudible as shells are fired from the earth. It\u2019s undoubtedly frightening to the Germans, when the ominous hiss of the shells suddenly rushes from the gloom. At night the fog was thick and not even the moon shone through. You couldn\u2019t see more than 100 paces in front of you.<\/p>\n<p>Today at two in the afternoon our pilot dropped his bombs in a strong wing. The German returned fire beautifully, but their bombing was unsuccessful.
