This morning I received a response: \u201cThe division commander is very pleased with your performance and has ordered you to return to Rembowo and continue carrying out your communication duties.\u201d I\u2019m glad that he has such an opinion of me, especially because he\u2019s new. I\u2019m reminded of peacetime, when all the officers, all the way up to the Commander of our forces knew who I was, and I would regularly receive acknowledgments of gratitude from all of them.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And so, I am once again back in Rembowo, instead of in the damp trenches. It\u2019s unfair to the other squadron officers, but it\u2019s not my fault. I couldn&#8217;t have expected this.<span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:160,&quot;335559740&quot;:259}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Upon arriving in Rembowo, I found an apartment closer to headquarters. This room is worse than my last one; it does not have a stove and I can see my breath. My thermometer is broken. I feel unwelcome in the company\u2019s headquarters. Only midshipman Baron Taube is kind and amiable. Whenever I go there, the commander of the copmany does not speak with me, but instead sends Baron Taube, who for lack of space receives me in the switchboard operators\u2019 room.
