The set list for this year\u2019s Philadelphia show was essentially identical to that a year earlier\u2014a well-thought-out mix of new and old fan favorites. Despite a year of touring with the same songs, the band members performed with the same vivacity and captivity that they had at the start of their tour, their rhythmic melodies traced by devoted audience members.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesheltersmusic.com\/\">The Shelters<\/a>, a rock band formed in 2015, opened up the show this time around, lighting up the space in preparation for the main act. Some personal favorites from The Shelters were the songs \u201cRebel Heart\u201d and \u201cNever Look Behind Ya.\u201d<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wdcvfm\/files\/2017\/10\/shelters.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-3300 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wdcvfm\/files\/2017\/10\/shelters-300x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wdcvfm\/files\/2017\/10\/shelters-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wdcvfm\/files\/2017\/10\/shelters-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wdcvfm\/files\/2017\/10\/shelters-768x768.png 768w, https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wdcvfm\/files\/2017\/10\/shelters-100x100.png 100w, https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wdcvfm\/files\/2017\/10\/shelters.png 975w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A few highlights of the Head and the Heart\u2019s performance were vocalist Jon Russell\u2019s sped-up rendition of the song \u201cLet\u2019s Be Still,\u201d vocalist and violinist Charity Rose Thielen\u2019s emotive performance of \u201cLibrary Magic,\u201d a song that she wrote about the band\u2019s experiences on the road, and the constant expressions of pure joy on the face of drummer Tyler Williams.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>One missing part of the show was the absence of former band-member Josiah Johnson, who sings many of the group\u2019s songs, including &#8220;Rivers and Roads,&#8221; the band&#8217;s greatest hit, and who I once witnessed crowd surfing at a concert in Boston.
