{"id":2183,"date":"2014-12-08T21:14:46","date_gmt":"2014-12-09T02:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/big10gameday.wordpress.com\/?p=42"},"modified":"2014-12-08T21:14:46","modified_gmt":"2014-12-09T02:14:46","slug":"recap-of-the-big-ten-conference-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wrpg211\/2014\/12\/08\/recap-of-the-big-ten-conference-championship\/","title":{"rendered":"Recap of the Big Ten Conference Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For those of you who didn&#8217;t listen to my podcast I posted last week predicting the outcome of the Big Ten Conference Championship Game, thank goodness. \u00a0For those of you who did listen to it, I deeply apologize for my embarrassing prediction. \u00a0Remember when I said confidently <a href=\"https:\/\/big10gameday.wordpress.com\/2014\/12\/03\/big-ten-conference-championship-preview-podcast\/\">Wisconsin would beat Ohio State 34-24<\/a>? \u00a0Well, Ohio State must have listened to my podcast before the game, as they went on to <a href=\"http:\/\/scores.espn.go.com\/ncf\/recap?gameId=400609096\">dominate Wisconsin 59-0<\/a> in a game that was never close. \u00a0In my defense, nobody thought it would be that big of a blowout. \u00a0In case you missed the game here are the highlights below.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class='embed-youtube' style='text-align:center; display: block;'><iframe class='youtube-player' type='text\/html' width='676' height='411' src='https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Zsx5ws3Cnb0?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;%23038;fs=1&#038;%23038;showsearch=0&#038;%23038;showinfo=1&#038;%23038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;%23038;wmode=transparent' frameborder='0' allowfullscreen='true'><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>I made a bold prediction that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uwbadgers.com\/sports\/m-footbl\/mtt\/melvin_gordon_764894.html\">Melvin Gordon<\/a> would run for 175 yards and 3 touchdowns. Well, if I subtracted 100 yards and 3 touchdowns from that prediction I would have been spot on. \u00a0That&#8217;s right, Gordon rushed for 75 yards and 0 touchdowns. \u00a0I also thought <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com\/sports\/m-footbl\/mtt\/cardale_jones_753504.html\">Cardale Jones<\/a> would struggle in his first career start, but instead he only threw for 257 yards and 3 touchdowns. \u00a0The only accurate statement I made throughout my entire podcast was stating <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com\/sports\/m-footbl\/mtt\/ezekiel_elliott_854123.html\">Ezekiel Elliot<\/a> would have to have a big game for Ohio State to win. \u00a0He had more than a big game as he rushed for 220 yards and 2 touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Ohio State played like a team trying to make a statement. \u00a0That statement was clear to the College Football Playoff Committee; clear enough that the committee pushed Ohio State into the top four of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.collegefootballplayoff.com\/view-rankings\">College Football Playoff Rankings<\/a>. \u00a0They earned a spot in the playoffs where they&#8217;ll meet the top ranked team, the Alabama Crimson Tide. \u00a0Can I bet against Ohio State again after their performance against Wisconsin?
