The theme of this weeks treasures is gender differences\/ perceptions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.efpsa.org\/tag\/statistics\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-193\" src=\"https:\/\/sarahfreshperspective.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/12\/screen-shot-2014-12-01-at-11-19-04-pm.png?w=300&#038;h=228\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-12-01 at 11.19.04 PM\" width=\"300\" height=\"228\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>1. A few weeks ago I attended a talk by psychologist, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sju.edu\/about-sju\/faculty-staff\/clare-conry-murray-phd\" >Clare Murray<\/a> from St. Joseph&#8217;s University. Murray shared a handful of interesting facts. Below are some points that resonated with me:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Gender essentialism: Theory that men and women act differently and have different options in life due to intrinsic differences between the genders.<\/li>\n<li>Acceptance of gender inequalities is highest among children 6-8 years old.<\/li>\n<li>Gender norm violations are more acceptable in the U.S. compared to Korea.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2. Women are often portrayed in unrealistic ways in the media. Take a look at this <a href=\"http:\/\/time.com\/3593985\/realistic-barbie-alternative-lamm\/\" >video <\/a>where children react to a realistic-looking Barbie&#8230;Very refreshing!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:left;\">3.
