{"id":2748,"date":"2015-09-23T23:15:50","date_gmt":"2015-09-24T03:15:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wrpg211\/?p=2748"},"modified":"2015-11-12T11:23:35","modified_gmt":"2015-11-12T16:23:35","slug":"juliejuliariccardo-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wrpg211\/2015\/09\/23\/juliejuliariccardo-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Julie\/Julia\/Riccardo Project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\">Few years ago, I watched a movie that actually impressed me in different ways: \u201c<span style=\"color: #cc99ff;\">Julie\/Julia<\/span>\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_2749\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cordonbleu.edu\/paris\/julie-julia\/en\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2749\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2749\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wrpg211\/files\/2015\/09\/2053-300x202.jpg\" alt=\"Julie &amp; Julia (2009)\" width=\"300\" height=\"202\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wrpg211\/files\/2015\/09\/2053-300x202.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.dickinson.edu\/wrpg211\/files\/2015\/09\/2053.jpg 595w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-2749\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Julie &amp; Julia (2009)<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">While working for a Corporation in August 2002, Julia Powell began the \u201cJulie\/Julia Project\u201d, a blog in which she attempts to cook all the recipes in Julia Child&#8217;s \u201cMastering the Art of French Cooking\u201d. Quickly this blog gained a large success, and Julia, later, signed a book deal. The book, \u201cJulie and Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen\u201d, was published in 2005. Few years later, the movie adaptation followed. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/rosalindgardner.com\/blog\/julie-julia-bloggers-must-watch-this-movie\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Julie Powell wanted to be a writer after all. She started the so called \u201cJulie\/Julia Project\u201d blog to write about what she truly loves \u2013 cooking<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">\u201d. Starting writing about what you really like: there&#8217;s no better way to begin.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/7hqLTAHnrac\" target=\"_blank\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/7hqLTAHnrac\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">So, why am I talking about this now? Because, as lots of people did in the past 13 years, I also would like to use Julie&#8217;s example to both improve my writing skills and, most important, to have fun by sharing what I know (and having fun). <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" align=\"JUSTIFY\"><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Cooking is, also, something that connects people all over the world, no matter your race, gender, religion, and diversities. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Gisela, a Mexican chef, started her \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/thejuliejuliagiselaproject.blogspot.com\/p\/contact.html\" target=\"_blank\">Julie\/Julia\/Gisela Project<\/a>\u201d to share her experience as a chef in Korea.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lawrenceandjulieandjulia.com\" target=\"_blank\">Lawrence<\/a>, instead, used Julie&#8217;s experience to make his own challenge: \u201c<\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\">Julie Powell managed to cook her way through all 524 recipes in Child&#8217;s cookbook in a year, learning valuable life lessons along the way. I hope to learn as much, if not more, by watching the film Julie &amp; Julia every day for a year\u201d.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><span lang=\"en-US\"><a href=\"http:\/\/janadrjoel.blogspot.com\" target=\"_blank\">Jana<\/a>, on the contrary, used a different approach. She was \u201ctaking on a similar challenge [- Julie&#8217;s], only [she is]\u00a0blogging [her]\u00a0way through a very healthy cookbook! And [she] will learn to master the art of healthy cooking! The book is called Eat For Health by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, M.D. [she] will cook every recipe start to finish in four weeks just as they are laid out in the book.
