Perspectives from D.C.

The Mosaic at NCSE.

In October, our Dickinson delegation headed
down to Washington D.C. for two days packed with interesting presentations and great conversations on climate change.  We made our home in the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE)’s conference room, where we invited a variety of speakers, from economists to climate scientists, to come share their vast knowledge and insights.  On our first day we met with Tom Lovejoy
(United Nations Foundation and George Mason University), Daniel Reifsnyder (US Department of State), Jacob Scherr (National Resources Defense Council), Laura Petes (White House Office of Science and Technology Policy), and Jon Padgham (START). The second day was equally as eventful with presentations from Mike MacCraken (Climate Institute), Dallas Burtraw (Resources for the Future), Liz Perera (Sierra Club), Joel Scheraga (US Environmental Protection Agency), and Keya Chatterjee (World Wildlife Fund).  We could not be more thankful to each of these individuals for taking the time to share information, thoughts, and opinions that are invaluable to our research for COP20.  It was an exhausting two days, but we left D.C. invigorated and excited for our imminent travel to Lima.  It is nearly impossible to summarize everything we learned in the two days, so check out some of the highlights for yourself in the videos below.
