  • 2017 (August) British Columbia, Canada: led field research experience for 4 undergraduate students to Hoodoo Mountain volcano, helifly camping for 10 days to examine glaciovolcanic deposits, glacial moraines and measure position of ice edges
  • 2017 (June) Iceland: co-led fieldtrip for Dickinson College alumni to south coast and north coast; gave 5 overview lectures in the field on Iceland geology
  • 2017 (June) Iceland: co-led field research experience trip for 6 undergraduate students to learn lacustrine characterization and sediment sampling, glacial moraine stratigraphy, glaciovolcanic stratigraphy
  • 2017 (March) Arizona/New Mexico: co-lead field trip with 15 undergraduate students to see volcanic and other deposits over spring break; Carrizzozo lava flow, San Carlos volcanic field, etc.
  • 2017 (January) Villarrica volcano, Chile: trip to investigate 2015 avalanche deposits; also visited Llaima, Nevados de Chillan, Antuco volcanoes
  • 2016 (June) Baffin Island/Eclipse Sound, Canadian Arctic: trip to camp on sea ice and make observations about thickness of ice and basic water chemistry (pH, EC, temperature) with 3 students, 2 DC alumni, and Blackfeather Guides
  • 2016 (June-July) Iceland: field mapping, sampling and documentation of geometries of glaciovolcanic pillow ridge (tindar) with Meagen Pollock and 8 students, NSF sponsored
  • 2016 (January) Chile: field mapping and sampling at Villarrica volcano with OVDAS staff and Chilean students and mountain guides, National Geographic Research Committee sponsored
  • 2015 (August) Gates of the Arctic National Park, Brooks Range, Alaska: rafting down Noatak River with 4 students and 2 DC alumni making observations on permafrost, tundra flora and fauna
  • 2015 (August) Edziza Provincial Park, British Columbia, Canada: finishing fieldwork with Meagen Pollock at Pillow Ridge for NSF-sponsored study of the formation of glaciovolcanic pillow lava
  • 2015 (June) Coropuna volcano, Peru: field mapping of ice-contact lavas, collection of lake sediments cores from Pallarcocha above 4,000 m elevation; sponsored by DC and Churchills; worked with OVI staff based in Arequipa
