History 282, “US Diplomatic History,” with Professor Matthew Pinsker, meets in Denny 211 during spring fall semester 2023 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1030am. The main course text will be George Herring’s sweeping study, From Colony to Superpower (2008). Students will also read journal articles by scholars such as Amanda Frost, Margaret MacMillan, and Walter Russell Mead. The focal point of the semester will be an in-depth web-based project assessing the contributions of an American historical figure to US diplomatic policy and traditions.
