History 282, “US Diplomatic History,” with Professor Matthew Pinsker, meets in Denny 211 during spring semester 2026 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1030am. The main course text will be George Herring’s sweeping study, From Colony to Superpower (2008). Students will also read journal articles by scholars such as Amanda Frost, Walter LaFaber, Thomas Lee, and Walter Russell Mead. The focal point of the semester will be an in-depth biographical paper assessing the contributions of an American historical figure to US diplomatic policy and traditions.
