History 311, “Digital History,” with Professor Matthew Pinsker, meets at Dickinson College during spring semester 2016 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 3pm in Denny 211. Students in this course will learn by building –by using digital research and various multi-media presentation tools to build their own digital resources and to curate their own online history website. Along the way, students will also study the work of leading digital historians such as Edward Ayers, Dan Cohen, Roy Rosenzweig, Anne Rubin, William Thomas and others in order to learn more about this fast-evolving field. Finally, the expectation is that students will apply these insights in a fashion that will allow them to better understand the practice of historiography in our thoroughly digital age.
