History 211, “US Military History,” with Professor Matthew Pinsker, meets at Dickinson College during spring 2021 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1030am on Zoom, via email and on campus (HUB Social Hall).  Course texts include an edited collection of essays from David Kieran and Edwin A. Martini, At War (2018) as well as several articles by various scholars such as Antulio Echevarria, Richard Kohn, and Carol Reardon.  Students will also read digital resources from the House Divided Project and special website projects from other Dickinson students.  Students in this course will study the historical evolution of American military strategy, soldier experience, and civil-military culture, culminating in an end-of-semester online project that analyzes a major battle in full historical context.
