The link between the government and media would be especially fascinating to study in Turkey. The government censors most Turkish media, even social media so there is interesting research to be done regarding censorship. I am interested to explore how the Turkish government regulates media and whether they rely on self-censorship or pre-censorship. I know journalists in Turkey have been jailed for writing anti-government articles so it is likely that the Turkish government relies somewhat on self-censorship. I do not know much about propaganda through the media in Turkey. I am curious to know how much propaganda the Turkish government makes for everyday media or if they simply censor topics that could harm their image.

I think it would be really interesting to see more about the Turkish government’s influence in the media. From your blog post they seem really focused on censorship, but like you I wonder if they influence the content, agenda-setting, framing, etc. of the media and of different media brands.
