Students were given the opportunity to visit and hear from many people involved with gender and sexuality issues in Cuba. Students were given multiple opportunities to visit CENESEX, the National Center for Sex Education, as well as hear from the director Mariela Castro Espín, daughter of current president Raúl Castro. Students also attended lectures that addressed issues of gender equality and some spoke with members of the Federation of Cuban Women.
