On Thursday, April 11, twenty-two new members were inducted into Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society (La Sociedad Nacional Honoraria Hispánica). Sigma Delta Pi was founded at Berkley in 1919, making this year’s induction class part of the centennial honors society group. As part of the induction ceremony, each student received a red candle that they lit and later blew out. Both actions carried symbolic meaning. The inductees were also awarded a certificate and pin bearing the royal seal of Fernando and Isabel. The students then signed the official register and received the Society flow, a red carnation.
