Upon graduation in Fall of 2023, I made a move cross-country to take a job at Denver Health, Colorado’s largest public hospital system, as a Spanish Medical Interpreter. I double majored in International Business and Management (INBM) and Spanish with a minor in Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies (LALC).
After taking Spanish for the Health Professions (SPAN239) with Prof. Asunción Arnedo in fall of 2021, I knew this is where I wanted my career to lead. I got a part time job during my time at Dickinson with Keystone Health’s Agricultural Worker Program, which is the organization we worked with in SPAN239.
Now I have my dream job working in a large hospital system where I interpret for Spanish speaking patients, their families, and our providers. I work in-person: in operating rooms, the emergency department, labor and delivery, but also over the phone to serve our 19 school based health centers and family clinics throughout the Denver area. I have completed over 140 hours in training certificates and am currently working to obtain my national certification.
