My own comparison between living in USA and the living in UAE

American University of Sharjah

I’m living now in the United States of America, and when we first met our exchange partners, we got to know each other a little bit through conversation. American University of Sharjah in English; is one of the most important universities in the Arab world in general and the United Arab Emirates in particular. It is a distinguished scientific building in a multicultural environment. Students come from different countries and religions as in the United States. There are some differences between the two countries, the most important being the cultural factor. The UAE is more tolerant of Western culture than its other Middle Eastern neighbors. This does not mean that everything is the same as it is in the United States. For example, students’ clothing must respect UAE traditions and follow Islamic values. Living in the UAE is also safer than the U.S., but the cost of living in Sharjah is higher because all products are imported. In addition, the intense weather conditions or very few people can walk the streets of the UAE when the summer days begin. Regular temperatures average over 100F and on some of the hottest days can reach 130F. Fortunately, all buildings are air conditioned and there are a ton of indoor activities. One advantage is that during the winters, the temperature hovers around 60-80F, which is very pleasant for many. There are some differences between the two countries, but nothing is perfect.
