Many people believe that there are many similarities between wolves and dogs. This may be because dogs evolved from wolves and still carry some of the characteristics of wolves. While this might be true for some breeds, it isn’t for others. Even though there can be some similarities between wolves and dogs no matter the breed, the number of differences start to increase as you go breed by breed. Some dogs are born with smaller snouts which can make their sense of smell less effective. This is because their noses cannot hold as many smell Pogbadetecting cells. The bigger the nose, the more smell detecting cells can enter. This is why beagles, bloodhounds, German shepherds, etc have a really good sense of smell (Agadoni, L. 2017). The behavior of dogs can also vary and dogs are more open to interacting with humans than wolves.

Lastly, some dogs were not bred for hunting. Most small dogs were bred to be cute, small, and great companions. They were also seen as protectors. Many small dogs were worshipped by people thousands of years ago. For example, in Mexico chihuahuas were worshipped by the Aztecs and a version of the Maltese were worshipped by the Egyptians. They worshipped them because of the very important roles they had (Dogedit. 2015).

Pugs originated from China in 400 B.C and were bred to be the ultimate companion/lapdogs for the wealthy. They also kept the Tibetan Buddhist monks company and were treated like royalty. Pugs are said to be amazing household  dogs due to their size and how fast they adapt to their surroundings. They are also said to be very loyal dogs. This breed is popular in China, Japan, Europe, and Russia. (Burke, A. 2017)

Professor Soldin’s dog Pogba is a pug that loves to play with other people and Pogbadogs. He is very sweet and social. When it comes to protecting his family or himself, he is up tothe task! Pogba isn’t an aggressive dog and does not feel the need to start any trouble with others. He acts like a watchdog and will bark when strangers go by. This is very similar to what wolves do to notify their pack of intruders or potential dangers. “Barking is used as a warning. A mother may bark to her pups because she senses danger, or a bark or bark-howl may be used to show aggression in defense of the pack or territory”. Dogs carried on this behavior and can be very vocal like how wolves are to express that there is danger or that they are hurt (Home). Pogba isn’t good at hunting or retrieving things which is very different from wolves. This may be because pugs were bred to be the ultimate companion and have flat faces. He does not have that many similarities to wolves in terms of size, shape, and how he interacts with humans. Pogba is still amazing the way that he is and provides his family with unconditional love, protection, and the ultimate companionship.
