DCOC will be going climbing in Rockville, Maryland at Earth Treks Climbing Center.
This is considered to be one of the best climbing gyms in the world. Check out their website for more details.
It will be about a 2 hour drive there, so you all will want to leave early.
This trip will be led by Rebekah Samuels.
Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics teaches people of all ages how to enjoy the outdoors responsibly, and is the most widely accepted outdoor ethics program used on public lands. Through relevant and targeted education, research and outreach, the Center ensures the long-term health of our natural world. In its simplest form, Leave No Trace is about making good decisions to protect the world around you – the world we all enjoy.
This two-day course assists student participants in learning more about the seven principles of Leave No Trace, and techniques for disseminating these low impact skills. Successful graduates of the Trainer Course gain skills to teach Leave No Trace techniques and ethics to other students, friends and family. Participants learn the concept of Leave No Trace and prepare to teach Leave No Trace curriculum in a variety of settings – such as schools, camps, parks, wilderness and front country areas. (LNT.org)

The Dickinson College Outing Club overnight LNT Trainer Course will certify students as LNT Trainers
2 Day Trip (4/11-12, Friday-Saturday)

LNT Master Educators: Jack Marcus, Caroline Sidford, and Emily McCune
$12 per person for the Trainer Certification (payment will be due April 2nd to Tucker Deady)

DCOC is partnering with the York County Grotto to go caving on Saturday, March 1st!
Will, Anna and Wes will be leading this trip, we have 9 spots left to fill. The details of this trip will be worked out in the coming days because of the other trip going out on Sunday Feb 23. Stay tuned for those details.
Generally speaking: The cave will be very wet and muddy, but it should be a great time. Two vans will leave from DPS/Kaufman at 9:30am to meet Andy near the cave. He will guide us through the cave and it should be a blast!
To go on this trip, you will need a headlamp (and a spare set of batteries), clothes that you can get muddy, and a change of clothes. The cave will be 56F, so it shouldn’t be too bad, but you will need to wear a fleece or something because of the mud. You will need to have on two layers of clothes, one to get muddy and the other so that you are not naked when you change out of your muddy clothes after the cave.
The Grotto and DCOC will provide helmets for you, but you need a headlamp. Please try and borrow one from a friend. The club has 3 headlamps that we can use, but it would be best for people to find their own. (No flashlights allowed, you need your hands to cave!)
After getting out of the cave, we all will grab a bite to eat, so bring some money for lunch.
When you sign up you must include your phone number!
Please meet at the DPS parking lot at 9:15 so that you can leave by 9:30!

Sara Sweeten and Jack Marcus will be leading this trip to Carnegie’s Cave near Shippensburg, 10 people (Sara and Jack not included) can go on this trip.

We are meeting in the DPS/Kaufman parking lot at 9:30am.
We will post more details about this trip soon, but please sign up with your name and phone number to go on the hike.
Remember: If you sign up for the hike and you later realize that you can’t come, you need to email outingclub@dickinson.edu saying that you are no longer coming AT LEAST 24 hours in advance, this will allow us time to fill your spot with someone else who wants to attend.

We have at least 3 spots open for this trip and we may be able to take more depending on interest and vans. Will and Karl will be leading this crew.
We will leave Kaufman parking lot at 9am promptly and return around dinner time.

Saturday Hike in Pine Grove
Saturday at 11:00 am, meet at Kaufman. We’ll be hiking down in Pine Grove, at either Pole Steeple or Buck Ridge (depending on our mood and the weather). Depending on which trail we take, we should be back around 3-5.
Forecast as of Monday is for highs around 40, and possible rain/snow – warm clothes, good boots and waterproof jackets are a must! Packed lunches are not required, but highly recommended. Let Karl know (smithkar@dickinson.edu) if you have any questions about gear or the itinerary.
