Concert Bucketlist Achieved: mclusky @ BlackCat DC w/ Pile
I forever have a short list of bands that I hope to see and mclusky has been holding steady on that list for years. mclusky is my comfort band. When I don’t know what to listen to, I always return to them. Maybe some folks wouldn’t find noise rock, filthy bass, and abrasive, witty vocals as their comfort but to me it’s pure delight. A band where I don’t skip tracks.
I had procured tickets to see them in 2022. But the big fat bummer occurred when dates were cancelled and refunded when Andrew “Falco” Falkous was plagued with serious ear issues . Somehow I missed when dates were rescheduled. But then to my delight 2026 brought them to our shores from Wales.
To say this show was perfection is not an understatement. Every single song hit. Ridiculous banter and biting commentary about everything from Morrisey to Oasis to Kings of Leon were uttered.
Pile ripped as an opener. An excellent pairing that solidified my new found fan status for them.
- Unreal shirt in the crowd
- I love DC’s love for their flag and the quirky places it pops up.
- Co-Locating a bookstore next to a venue is perfect. Purchase books and then read instead of doomscrolling while in line to get in.
Highly recommend pairing a DC show with the zoo. It’s FREE!
