WDCV’s Discover Dickinson!

On Friday, August 26th,  WDCV hosted it’s second Discover Dickinson orientation workshop. WDCV exec staff showed first-years around the station, helped them play their first song over the air and had them make posters for our upcoming DJ meeting. The groups showed lots of potential, for excellent DJs, awesome exec members and maybe even station manager someday. Only time will tell. In the meantime, enjoy the pictures below!

WDCV 88.3 FM BENEFIT CONCERT!!!!!!!

That’s right, kiddies, we have an official date for the WDCV spring concert! The concert will be this April 2nd from 12 to 5 pm. It’s going to be an outdoor music extravaganza of awesomeness. No set bands yet, but I hear rumors of a Tara Toms performance!

This spring’s concert will be a fundraiser for the homeless shelter Carlisle C.A.R.E.S., an organization that recently lost almost all of their funding. Struggling to keep their doors open, the shelter is a worthy and much deserving cause for the fund raising concert.

WDCV DJs and Exec members will begin table sitting for donations in the next few weeks and to find out about other opportunities to donate contact us at wdcvfm@gmail.com

We’ll see you there!

Yuck, The Band That Is The Opposite Of Yucky

Welcome to the blog post about my new obsession, the band Yuck.

Sent to WDCV by the always lovely Terrorbird Media.

This band is rough and edgy as well as whiny and head-bobbingly catchy. They even make weird music videos with naked girls being eaten by werewolf-like monsters:

With an album that is self-produced yet roughly polished to perfection, you can expect and anticipate this band’s upcoming performance in March at the SXSW music festival. They’re officially touring already, focused mainly in the South at first from Georgia then all the way to the West Coast where the tour will eventually end out in San Francisco.

Every song has a little bit of a different feel, but the crooning and crowing remains constant throughout. Nothing is holding this band back and a devoted fan base is already forming speedily and devotedly behind them.

If you like your noise rock with a surf pop/teenage dream-edge, then you will enjoy Yuck.

Feast on, Party on.

Activities Night!

Don’t forget that tomorrow night (Monday) at 6 pm is the anticipated club orgy of the semester….ACTIVITIES NIGHT. WDCV will be there, posted up at a table with a boom box playing some of our own favorite slammin’ beats and free pins! Rumble through our reject bin of lost albums and sign up for our email list! DJ sign-up sheets will also be available, as well as ever-charming conversation with our lovely DJs.

We’ll see you there.

DJ Meetings

It’s that time again, the time when new & old djs alike come together to prepare for another excellent year of WDCV radio broadcasts.  We will be in Tome 112 Wednesday Sept. 8th & Thursday Sept. 9th at 7pm.  You only need to attend one if you want to be dj but you do have to attend one to fill out your application and learn all about WDCV.  We have made upgrades to the station over the summer and have some grand plans for the semester and we can’t wait to tell you about all of them.  We hope to see you all there!

WDCV article in the Dickinson Magazine

The Dickinson Magazine wrote up a nice article about the station and some alumni who had been very involved in WDCV over the years.  Recent grad (and sorely missed exec member ) Lacey Smith was also interviewed for the article.  Here is the link to that article on the web but it lacks some of the images so I also attached a PDF straight from the print copy.  Kudos to all involved!

Apply to be on our Exec Board!!

It’s that time again….the changing of the guard if you will.  We need some fresh minds to join the station exec staff so we can keep up the momentum that we achieved this semester.  Please fill out our application ASAP so we can get all of the new staff confirmed before the semester ends.  We need people to fill all sorts of positions so if you have a skill, I’m sure we can find a way to utilize it at the station.  Everyone has something to bring to the table and we look forward to getting more people involved.

WDCV T-Shirts! YAY!!

I’m sure you have caught yourself contemplating “Oh how I wish I could get an awesome WDCV-FM t-shirt”……right?  Well contemplate no more!  WDCV has made t-shirts and will be selling them at the upcoming “Live on Britton Plaza” & the Rock-Hop Weekend concerts.  Stop by our table to see what the new threads look like and pick one while you are at it.  With a wide selection of sizes & colors, you are sure to find the perfect match.
