This website chronicles the progress of my senior thesis honors project for the history department at Dickinson College. Under the supervision of Professor Pinsker, I will be conducting research on the development of the prohibition movement in Atlanta, Georgia. Beginning with Fulton County’s referendum in 1885 and concluding with the achievement of state-wide prohibition in 1907, I hope to uncover the largely forgotten leadership of black progressive reformers and consider how issues of gender and intersectional identity shaped the way these community leaders claimed new and significant roles in a city in transition.
