wdcv50thpostercrop2

Last year was WDCV’s 50th Anniversary but we are still celebrating! We know that there are alumni coming back every year who still love WDCV and all of the time they spent behind the mic.

If you are coming back for Alumni Weekend, please stop by the station from 2-4 pm for an open house on Friday June 14th.  All alumni are welcome, even if they weren’t a DJ when they were here so bring your friends.

We will have free buttons and stickers and we still have some t-shirts available in varying sizes (only $10!).

Finally, if you haven’t filled out our Alumni Survey yet, please do so!  We would love to hear about what you are currently up to and all about your time at WDCV!

2-4 p.m. WDCV Open House

Stop by WDCV’s Studio for a tour of our digs in the lower level of the HUB.  Check out our timeline of WDCV’s history in the hallway leading up to the station.  The studio will be open for Alumni DJs so bring some music along or just get behind the mic again and tell Dickinson & Carlisle what you have been up to. Mingle with alums and current DJs, eat some snacks, reminisce, tell us secrets about WDCV that we never would have known……

Come out to see Mad Men play at Spring Fest 4/20/13

858489_484937748238708_1417005247_oWDCV is bringing Mad Men to play at Springfest!  If you have seen them before, you know what an amazing show they put on.  If you haven’t seen them, then it is even more important for you to come out to see this FANTASTIC band. The band is a fusion of funk, jazz and hip hop and brings a lively stage presence.  They will play from 11:30am-1pm Saturday April 20th at Spring Fest on Morgan Field.  See you there!

Token Prospects at Dickinson

Token Prospects is indie soul band made up of five members, four of which are Dickinson graduates: Dwight Dunston, class of 2010; Josh Rohrbaugh, class of 2010; Andre Lekich, class of 2010; and Jeremy Keys, class of 2011. Robert Ricket graduated from La Salle Univiserty in 2011.

Token Prospects is definitely something you should check out if you prefer a more laid back feeling to music. They build upon a steady acoustic guitar line that often converses with piano, strings, and a variety of other instruments creating a spectacular relaxed, soul filled background which leads the vocals through their melodic journey. They create an original sound that invokes a peaceful feeling that could make anyone forget about their troubles and just enjoy the music.

Token prospects will be making a trip down to Dickinson college where they will be opening for Parachute on April 5th at the Anita Tuvin Schlechter Auditorium for the MOB spring concert.

If you aren’t sure that you want to be a DJ but have heard about how awesome it is to have a radio show, you should stop by our table at Activities Night on Wednesday January 23rd in the Social Hall at 6pm.  Meet some of the exec board, grab a stickers, buttons and free cds.  Maybe even buy one of our SWEET shirts! Our Sports Broadcasters will be there too so chat with them about your future career at ESPN.

Visit to the Brooklyn Flea Record Fair

While traipsing about NYC this weekend I was able to stop by the Brooklyn Flea Record Fair and see some of our favorite labels.  It was a big hipster, music-nerd fest and I was in complete heaven.  Also, WDCV Station Manager alum (and current DJ) Chris Bratton was in the area too so we got so we got to geek out on music together.  Also, even if you don’t like records, you should go for the food.  Good god…..the food!!!

College Radio Day-October 2nd 2012

Thank you for supporting WDCV for over 50 years!  Many colleges have sold their broadcasting licenses for a quick profit so we are very grateful that Dickinson has shown that we mean something to this campus and community by giving us the financial and administrative support we need to keep broadcasting.  Check out the College Radio Day page for more information and keep listening to WDCV at 88.3 on your FM dial or online!

Keith Fischer ’02- WDCV Sports Broadcasting Advisor- To Be Inducted Into Dickinson Sports Hall of Fame

Keith Fischer ’02, WDCV’s Sport Broadcasting Advisor, is a humble guy who probably didn’t want to make a big deal about him getting inducted into the Dickinson Sports Hall of Fame for Football…..so he didn’t tell us.  The internet is great for finding out these bits of info though, so as we looked at the Homecoming Schedule (WDCV is planning a BIG celebration that weekend for our 50th Anniversary) we noticed this post about the football game.

Returning DJ Info Session

Welcome back Dickinsonians!!  We can’t wait to get you back on the air so this year we are fast tracking our info session so we can start broadcasting this weekend.  There will be an info session for RETURNING DJs on Tuesday August 28th at 7pm in Stafford Audtiorium.  If you miss it,  you can attend one of the NEW DJ info sessions September 5th & 6th(wed. & thur) at 7pm in Tome 115.  You MUST attend one of these to get a show so you have 3 chances if you are a returning DJ.  This might be our best semester EVER.  It’s our 50th Anniversary and we are planning some BIG stuff for Homecoming Weekend.  We hope you will be DJ again so you can be part of it.  We can’t wait to see you all again!

***Community DJs don’t have to attend this meeting. Email wdcvfm@gmail.com if you can no longer do your show or need to change the time.***

Weekly Free Shows at Messiah College

Our little Central Pa valley has quite a few colleges packed between the mountains.  We like to keep up with what shows are going on locally so we can know if a road trip is in order.  For the past few years, Messiah has put on a great weekly show series called b sides.  Every Wednesday there is another band playing for in their student union.  You may not have heard of the bands, but that shouldn’t stop you from paying them a visit.  Free weekly live music is a bonus no matter how small the band.
