Выступили в 8 часов утра и шли под дождем. Грязь страшная. В 1 час дня, промокшие, разместились с эскадроном недалеко от 2-ого эскадрона Лейб-Курляндского уланского полка. У одного улана я купил кружку немецких черных Данцигских гусар, которую он взял в Восточной Пруссии.

We moved out at 8 in the morning, walking in the rain. The muck was terrible. At 1 pm, completely soaked through, our squadron settled in not far from the 2nd Squadron of the Leib-Kurliand Ulan Regiment. From one of the Ulans I bought a mug that had belonged to the German Black Danziger Hussars; he got it from Eastern Prussia.
