Вчера нас сменили, но мы не устали, даже отдохнули в прикрытии, а днем выкупались в озере к радости всех. Какие-то шалые немцы болотом прокрались к берегу и пытались нас обстрелять, но неудачно. Сейчас мы в резерве.

Yesterday we were replaced, but we were not tired and even rested under cover; during the day we bathed in the lake, much to everyone’s enjoyment. Some pesky Germans snuck through the swamp up to the shore and tried to shoot us, but did not succeed. We are now in reserve.
