Тасикмалайя.

Сижу в городе в неопределенном положении. Согласно инструкции я должен ехать в Батавию. Но вместе с тем имею непонятную новую инструкцию, что должен ехать на Мерапи продолжать программу. Доктор сейчас в Бандунге, попытаюсь вызвать его по телефону.

Как хочется на Родину. Всегда так – человек мечтает о том, чего у него нет, хочет того, что имел, но потерял…

I am stuck in town, in an uncertain situation. According to instructions, I must go to Batavia. But in addition to this I have another incomprehensible new instruction, that I must go to Merapi and continue my itinerary. Dr. Kemmerling is now in Bandung; I’ll try to call him on the telephone.

How I long for the Motherland. So it always goes: a man dreams of that which he doesn’t have, desires that which he had but lost…
