Утром был приятно поражен зимним пейзажем. Еще раз пришлось поехать в полевую почтовую контору, на этот раз в экипаже.

Сегодня в приказе по дивизии сказано, что 25 декабря мы должны выступить в направлении на Варшаву, куда должны прибыть 27 декабря. Идем мы на 15 верст западнее Варшавы, и из 5-ой Армии переходим в 9-ую. Итак, мы лишь месяц были в 5-ой Армии, перед этим более 2 месяцев во 2-ой Армии, еще раньше в 9-ой.

Я починился, привел в порядок седельный вьюк и оружие. Пистолет горит, шашка отточена. Я имею все, что можно, чтобы обойтись без вьюка. Было однажды, когда мы не видели наших вьюков более 2 недель. Во вьюках у меня были походная кровать, одеяло, 2 простыни, 3 смены белья, китель, сапоги, табак и т.д.

I was amazed by the winter landscape this morning. Once again I had to go to the field post office, this time in a carriage.

Today our division received the order that on December 25 we would head in the direction of Warsaw, arriving on December 27. We will stay 15 versts to the west of Warsaw and will be relocated from the 5th Army to the 9th. We were in the 5th Army for no more than a month, in the 2nd Army for just over 2 months, and before that we were in the 9th.

I made some repairs and got my saddle pack and weapon into order. My pistol is shining and my sabre is sharp. I have everything I need to go without my pack. There was a time when we wouldn’t see our packs for two weeks or more. In my packs I had a travel bed, blanket, 2 sheets, three changes of undergarments, a tunic, boots, tobacco, etc.
