Мне кажется, что скоро конец всей этой истории. Ввиду того, что у красных служат такие генералы, как Эверт, офицеры начинают не понимать, в чем дело? За что воюем? Мне кажется, за январь месяц должно выясниться  все наше положение, а дома я, если выживу, буду не раньше марта.

It seems to me that this whole affair will soon come to an end. Seeing as generals like Evert are serving in the Red Army, the officers are beginning to lose their understanding of what is happening and what we are fighting for. It seems to me that our whole situation must become clear by the end of January, and if I survive, I will be home no earlier than March.
