Cossack Settlement of Golovninskaya.

Today we prevailed in crossing 2 mountains. I am in the rear, and it brings me sadness to see that our men continue looting. It is shameful to serve in this army. Yesterday they robbed our hostess, the mother of an officer (they stole her horses). It seems that I had influenza. At the station, people are saying that the Red Army fled north from Irkutsk, allegedly having warned the civilians not to disturb us as we crossed through the city. These days it is always 25–30 degrees below zero; at night it is even colder.

We should have gone 12 more versts, but we could not. News: General Kappel died 8–10 days ago, Pepelyayev is ill, Sh-rinov shot himself, and Domotovich is dead. Such misfortune for the generals.
